I have always loved fall. Despite the upcoming dark of winter (another favorite time for me), fall always seems like a fresh start — I’m sure it’s related to the school year beginning. It’s the time to get organized, to make new lists, and climb new mountains. Last year at this time, I was turning in revisions, ramping up for Pitch Wars (I was a mentor), and diving into my year as a Deb. And what a year it was.
This doesn’t warrant an eyeroll gif, but I love it, so it stays.
I love that there will be a saved history of my year on the Deb Ball site for years to come. I love that I was a part of this unique tradition — as far as I know, there isn’t another group of writers like this, where the mantle is passed from year to year. I love that next week, I can stop by and meet the new Debs (and I hope you’ll be joining me).
Being a debut author was a unique experience. There are plenty of querying writers and published authors out in the world, but there are only a handful of debut authors every year. I can’t stress enough how incredible it was to share this time with Colleen, Karma, Sona, and Shelly. I look forward to many, many years of continued friendship!
And as exciting and as wonderful as this year has been, I’m also ready to pass the mantle to Aya, Abby, Louise, Heather, and Jennifer. These are five exceptionally talented women and I know I’m excited to get to know them over the next year!
So, dear reader, thank you for joining us on this exciting ride, but let’s make sure this isn’t the end. Please come visit me at my own site, which has been sadly neglected this past year. I promise I’ll keep posting Arrow gifs.
Gratuitous gif. You’re welcome.
If you can’t find me, I’ll be at your site, patiently awaiting more Stephen Amell gifs. Thank you for starting my Tuesday off right! And hugs, been a great year, etc. etc. (Won’t say miss you, bc I’ll see you on Flowdock for the next hundred years, yes?)
Huzzah for Flowdock! And seriously on the Amell gifs — I may need some help!
I started following Amy on twitter when I heard her book title for the first time, and followed her over here to The Debutante Ball. Thank you Amy! I’m going to miss you here, but will be checking in on your blog and twitter!
Fear not, Louise! I will be lingering about. 😉
Damn, that man works out.
Good luck, Amy, but not goodbye — wherever there is an internet connection, I shall be there! I’m honored to (try and) fill your shoes here on the Ball. I look forward to reading Book Two!!!
Yes, yes he does, Heather. And I make sure all his hard work is properly appreciated. 🙂
Amy you will always be remembered for sure and so will your Coincidence of Coconut Cake which I am reading an loving every page. I will look forward to seeing you on new pages, and twitter and hearing about your new book! Good luck and thanks for all the nice blogs this year!
Thank you, Carol! You’ve been so supportive and I know all the Debs appreciate it.
