The One Book You MUST READ This Month

images-1Tomorrow, Karma Brown’s COME AWAY WITH ME hits shelves! And this is one you don’t want to miss. Exploring the idea of life after loss, COME AWAY WITH ME is the story of Tegan Lawson and her husband Gabe who seemingly have it all— a great love and a baby on the way. And then a tragic accident changes all of that, causing a rift in their once-strong relationship. To work through her grief and try to salvage her marriage, Tegan and Gabe set off on a bucket-list trip of a lifetime— but is it possible to outrun your heartbreak? Or will it always find you, no matter where you roam? In her debut, Karma delivers an emotional, heartbreaking, but ultimately spirited tale that you won’t soon forget.

Here are my top four reasons you should run out to your nearest book store and buy it asap.

1. It’s relatable. Karma has perfectly captured those feelings of intense love in the beginning of relationships in the flashbacks of Tegan and Gabe’s relationship, as well as the overwhelming grief caused by tragic circumstances (like losing a pregnancy). The alternating between flashbacks and present time create an emotional rollercoaster that keeps you flipping pages wanting more.

2. You can travel the globe without leaving home. Much like EAT, PRAY, LOVE, Karma takes us on a wild adventure with Tegan and Gabe as they travel to Thailand, Italy and Hawaii trying to escape their grief and mend their relationship. It’s the perfect summer read whether you’re globe trotting with them (lucky!!) or stuck at home and living vicariously through the pages.

3. The twist! Just when you think you know where the story is going, Karma pulls the rug out from underneath you. I can’t say anymore, but trust me— it’s a doozy.

4. It will make you cry. And sometimes you just need a cathartic sobfest — which is why I included it on my top 5 ugly cry books for Julieverse. But while you’ll definitely need Kleenex nearby, the ending is also uplifting and hopeful and full of heart. At its root, COME AWAY WITH ME is an all-consuming love story. And who doesn’t love a love story?
