Woohoo! Take a look at Deb Eleanor’s The Weird Sisters at #14 on the New York Times Best Sellers list!  Charlotte, NC and Boston, MA were great – the next round of appearances are on the west coast!

Deb Elise is squealing with delight over this blurb from amazing YA author Deb Caletti: “POPULAZZI is a smart, fun, and energetic ride through the twisting hallways of high school popularity.”

Deb Tawna recently finished the third book in her contract and handed it off to her agent. Since she has a little free time on her hands and a good reason to celebrate, her parents (who spend several months a year in Hawaii) cobbled together a last-minute flight for her to join them on Kauai. There is a good chance she’s sipping a mai tai right this moment.

Deb Elise here, and I have to pipe up and say I just finished reading Sarah Pekkanen’s Skipping a Beat.  It is SPECTACULAR.  I want to go on and on and on about it, but I don’t want to give anything away.  Just go buy it and read it.  You will not be disappointed.

Friends of the Debs…

We’ve talked about YA blogger Kristi, a.k.a. The Story Siren, in this space before.  Since January, Kristi has had a section of her blog dedicated to a very brave little girl, her cousin Kaylea.  Kaylea is six years old, and battling leukemia.  Kaylea is an avid reader, and Kristi is reaching out to the book world to help put a smile on Kaylea’s face by sending her books to read.  Kristi is also taking up a collection to help Kaylea’s family with their considerable medical bills.  For more information, please check out A Little Angel Named Kaylea.

As I said above, I just finished Skipping a Beat, and I’m serious — you have to read it.  That simple.  Right after that I dove into Matthew Quick’s Sorta Like a Rock Star, and I’m loving it.  The voice of his protagonist, Amber Appleton, is completely unique and drew me in immediately.  Truth.

I’ve been blessed that a number of authors have asked me to “blurb” (write a little quote that might appear on the cover) their upcoming novels.  Unfortunately, I got hit with a pile of them at once and I’m embarrassingly behind, but the one I’m reading now is really excellent – I promise I’ll tell you all about them when they come out!

I’m devouring (pardon the pun) Christopher Moore’s books on a tear! I’ve always enjoyed cozy mysteries that introduce you to a new town and cast of characters. Moore takes the concept and spins it into a world of zany, mythical, religious mayhem and murder. My brother bought me “Lamb The Gospel According To Biff Jesus’ Childhood Friend,” a few years back and I’ve been a Moore fan ever since.

As mentioned above, I’m basking in the sun on Kauai and savoring every moment of beach reading time. Fortunately, I have some fabulous reading material with me, thanks to fellow-Deb Elise Allen. Hey, Elise – you’re here with me in spirit, my dear. And I’m thoroughly enjoying Populazzi!

  3. But of course SKIPPING A BEAT is wonderful, didn’t I tell you? 🙂 And SORTA LIKE A ROCK STAR won my heart over last year.

    Then there’s THE WEIRD SISTERS (sigh) where the NYT says it all!
