Celebrating Indie Bookstore Day at Blue House Books

April 24th is Indie Bookstore Day and to celebrate, I wanted to shine a light on my favorite local indie, Blue House Books in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Blue House Books

Blue House Books is everything you want from a local bookstore: not only filled with amazing books from every genre you love to read, but owned and operated by a warm and welcoming bookseller. Samantha Jacquest is a one-woman small business maven who started Blue House Books as a pop-up stand in 2017. In those days Blue House sold used books at community events, but Samantha wasn’t going to stop there. She slowly grew Blue House Books into a micro bookstore, which was open five days a week. Then in the fall of 2020, she opened her first permanent brick-and-mortar store in downtown Kenosha, and things are only getting bigger and better from there!

I met Samantha in late 2020 when I came in (shaking in my authorial boots) with an advanced copy of THE FROZEN CROWN to see if she’d be interested in stocking it. Not only was she interested, but she was so kind and knowledgable about the debut process, that I knew I wanted to schedule and event with her as soon as I could. (I even signed my very first–and likely illegible– author autograph in that advanced copy, lol!)

I’m so happy that I’ll be spending Indie Bookstore Day at Blue House Books with a bunch of other wildly talented local authors. There will be readings, book signings, live music a costume contest and much, MUCH more. Check out the Blue House Books Facebook page for more information. I’ll be there signing copies of my book and giving away some fun swag, so be sure to follow this link to snag your copy of THE FROZEN CROWN!

Author: Greta Kelly

Greta Kelly is (probably) not a witch, death or otherwise, but she can still be summoned with offerings of too-beautiful-to-use journals and Butterfingers candy. Though she has travelled across the world, including brief stints living in Germany and Japan, life always kept bringing her back home to the Midwest. She currently lives in Wisconsin with her husband EJ, daughter Lorelei and a cat who may, or may not, control the weather. Her debut novel, The Frozen Crown, is forthcoming from Harper Voyager.
