From the 2012 Debs…

Deb Joanne is wishing Deb Erika a VERY happy birthday. That kugel should have made it there by now. You know, unless someone ate it before it got into the package (sorry).

Deb Erika is celebrating her twenty-ninth birthday for the *mumble-mumble* time today and is SURE that today is the day that Joanne’s leftover kugel will arrive in the mail. (Oh, wait. It’s Sunday. Drat.)

Deb Molly’s book THE PRINCESSES OF IOWA was nominated for YALSA’s Best Fiction for Young Adults list. Squee! (And happy birthday, Erika!)

Deb Rachel is so excited for social dining site Grubwithus’  MWF SEEKING BFF fan dinner this Wednesday. If you’re in the Chicago area, sign up! For $22, you’ll get to try a new restaurant (Costa Rican food!), share a hearty family-style meal (check out the menu), and meet me and other potential new BFFs.

Deb Linda wishes Deb Erika the happiest of birthdays, and hopes she indulges herself in a suitably unsuitable manner.

Deb Dish – What summer food are you most looking forward to?

Deb Joanne – we grill year-round, but for some reason, I think grilled and smoked foods made in summer taste best. I can’t wait for the weather to be consistently nice, so I can sit in the yard and read while my husband barbeques some sort of assorted meat and veg. Linda, looks like we’re like-minded – come on over – just bring a salad and something boozy and slushy.

Deb Erika Maine blueberries, scallops and steamers. And a Lake Trout Stout on draft from Sebago brewery. Not necessarily in that order!

Deb Molly Corn on the cob, just a few hours after it’s been picked. And s’mores (we have lots of campfires in the summer).

Deb Linda Mmm. Summer foods. Where do I begin? Well, almost anything grilled — steak, chicken, burgers, veggies, fish (especially salmon on a cedar plank), fruit (peaches are sublime when grilled!). Silver Queen corn! Watermelon! Tomatoes and peppers from our garden. Ice cream! Gosh, I could go on and on, but I’m getting hungry, so I’ll stop.

Deb Rachel Lobster! My mother-in-law lives in Cape Cod, and every summer we go visit her for July 4th and eat lobster and grilled corn, and it’s delicious. That meal with a glass of white wine, plus some Stacey’s pita chips and Jarslberg cheese for apps, is my ultimate sign of summer.
