News from the Class of 2019 Debs:
K.A. Doore finished reading three books this week and now she’s going to celebrate autumn by seeing how many apples her toddler can pick while she lounges nearby, drinking cider. Also she got to see book 2’s title in Fancy Title font and maybe cried.
Devi S. Laskar is working on an essay that’s part movie review of Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman and part memory of her time as a crime reporter for a daily newspaper.
Layne Fargo found out Temper will be published under Gallery’s Scout Press imprint! She also got to see a cover design this week – hopefully she’ll be able to share the final cover soon.
Stephanie Jimenez is almost done revising a short story she thought she’d never finish, in love with her book cover concept, and just finished reading Busha Rehman’s Marianna’s Beauty Salon, a remarkable and gutting poetry collection that should be on your shelf now.
Martine Fournier Watson’s publisher is getting ready to do a mailing of The Dream Peddler arc to indie bookstores, so she this week she got to write a letter about all the indie stores she has loved before, which was really fun. Here’s hoping they like it! |
See you next week when we talk about how we balance writing, work, and life.
