Sometimes I like to sit down and think about all the parallel universes where other Kaitlyns are going about their daily lives having walked down paths wildly divergent from my own. Here’s a peek at a few of those other universes.
Before I (TO THE ENDLESS DISAPPOINTMENT OF ADULT KAITLYN) Decided I Hated Science:
Kaitlyn Sage Patterson is an equine veterinarian. She lives on a sprawling farm tucked up against the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with a small menagerie. When she’s not tending to the needs of nearby hooved friends, she spends her time with her nose in a book or competing with her thoroughbred ex-racehorse, Moonlight.
If I’d Quit College Like That One Trainer Wanted:
Kaitlyn Sage Patterson is a competitive eventer with her sights set on the Olympics. Despite her series of injuries, Kaitlyn continues to move up through the levels on warmblood mare, Copper, owned by Fancypants McMoneyboats. When she’s not competing, Kaitlyn teaches lessons at McMoneyboats Farms, where she also lives with her dogs and barn cats. Most nights, she stays up way too late reading YA novels.
If I’d Decided To Try For Law School Like Some Professors Suggested:
Kaitlyn Sage Patterson is a junior associate at Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe Law Offices in Middle of Nowheretown, North Wildernessland with her many dogs. She’s up to her eyeballs in debt and has to wear high heels and real person clothes every day. This does not please her. It does not please her at all. She doesn’t hate all the paperwork though, and going years without sleep has made her real argumentative, so she might just make partner yet.
All that said, I think I’ve made some PRETTY great calls along the way. Here’s my REAL bio:
Kaitlyn Sage Patterson grew up with her nose in a book outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. After completing her M.F.A., she moved to South Korea, where she taught English and started writing her debut novel. THE DIMINISHED will be published by HarlequinTEEN on April 10, 2018, followed by its sequel in 2019.
When she’s not staring off into space and trying to untangle some particularly troublesome plot point, she can be found in her kitchen, perfecting the art of the macaron; or at the barn, where she rides and trains dressage horses; or with her husband, spoiling their sweet rescue dogs.
