If The Goddess Twins was made into a movie…

Oooh, I love this game! If they made The Goddess Twins into a film, here’s my dream for who would work well with casting, directing and rating:

Director – Ava DuVernay – I loved what she did with A Wrinkle in Time, and I feel confident she could reflect the goddess dynasty vibes from behind the lens through to the big screens.

Rating – PG13 (it is YA after all!)

Aurora and Arden – Yara Shahidi – Love her on Grownish, how she can handle extremes with such expression and still be heartwarming and loveable…I could see her crushing both roles.

Selene (Mom) – Taraji P Henson – As Cookie, or a mathematician, or anything, she is explosive with black girl magic goddess energy. Yes, she would be compelling as the mysterious mother.

Leo (Godfather) – Idris Elba – I love when actors can create their own gravity, like they can just pull moments into such intensity…Idris does this time and again, and I know he would bring that perfect quality as Leo.

Liberty – Keke Palmer – She is like an exploding galaxy, and the character Liberty is like this bigger than life, confident, gorgeous mirror into what the sisters could become. Keke definitely has that powerful magnetism to pull off this role.

Leolidessa – Zendaya – I truly love her take on Rue in Euphoria, and it really showed me how versatile she is as an actress. I feel like the role of Lilo could go so many ways, and I would just be excited to see what Zendaya would do with interpreting this character.

Kiara – Tessa Thompson – True story, I met her once in Oakland at a bar and she was LUMINOUS even in ruby red lighting. She has that inner glow, that peace and joy that Kiara represents in this novel. I know Tessa would be ideal to embody this spiritual goddess.

Gran Gran – Angela Bassett – She is the one. Facts. Just thinking of one scene in particular where Gran Gran shows just a bit of her power and the girls are shook…makes me think of how Angela Bassett just IS and girls and guys are shook. She would slay as Gran Gran.

Grandfather Ezekiel – Morgan Freeman – This is a role that combines charisma with evil intentions to somehow produce a villain that you love to hate. Morgan could hold that energy.

Zion – Michael B Jordan – Michael B Jordan is pitch perfect as a surprise antagonist!

Devon – Trevor Jackson – As the tempting soul mate potential that our protagonist just can’t stop thinking about, yeah, he can bring that vibe!
