3…2…1…BOOK LAUNCH!

Fellow 2020 Deb Kathleen West in now midway through the week of the launch of her novel, Minor Dramas & Other Catastrophes. The book hit store shelves on Tuesday. Kathleen is the first of this year’s Debs to step onto the ballroom floor! She’s got a whirlwind tour that begins in the Midwest and will take her to New England, the Southwest, and back to the Midwest.
Tomorrow she’ll be in Cambridge, Minnesota at Scout and Morgan Books. A few days later she scoots down and over a couple of states to Anderson’s Book Shop in La Grange, Illinois. I can’t wait for her stop in the Boston area on February 12th at Belmont Books. We debutantes all know each other virtually and communicate by email, app and videoconferencing, but rarely do we get to meet in person because we are all in different parts of the country. I’ve marked my calendar for a jaunt out to Belmont Books.
Minor Dramas & Other Catastrophes has been described as a wry and cleverly observed novel about the privileged bubble that is Liston Heights High—the micro-managing parents, the overworked teachers, and the students caught in the middle—and the fallout for each of them when the bubble finally bursts.
When a devoted teacher comes under pressure for her progressive curriculum and a helicopter mom goes viral on social media, two women at odds with each other find themselves in similar predicaments, having to battle back from certain social ruin.
And I love the cover of the book, an apple being carefully peeled. We know that’s symbolic of some teachers’ facades being peeled away and much, much, more!
